LPAE
is recognized as the strong, respected voice
for public education in Lafourche Parish. LPAE addresses
issues that improve teaching and learning, salary, benefits,
and working conditions for its members. Many LPAE members
are active in community groups and organizations that
support a strong public school system in Lafourche Parish.
On
the local level, Lafourche Parish’s own Ray
Barrios serves the local members as their voice
in educational matters in the parish, the state, and
on the national level.
Carol
Davis, the state president, hails from Terrebonne
Parish and knows the issues across the state and across
the nation that impact us all. She cares about those
of us who work in the trenches of the educational field.
She guides the state of education in Louisiana.
Aurelia Young, LAE UniServ Director, works closely with
elected leaders and members with training, preparing
proposals, organizing around issues and concerns, representing
LPAE members in grievance hearings, as well as performing
many other duties and responsibilities.
On
the national level, President Reg Weaver, of
the National Education Association, represents the entire
country and all of the educational employees in it.
Let me tell you , my friends, that he does us all proud.
His passion for this profession and this association
is near legendary. We are well represented on all levels!
